The Oktoberfest 2019 will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from September 28 to October 19, the organizers announced at a press conference last week.
The event, jointly organized by the German Businesses Association (GBA) and the Delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam, will take place at the Hotel Nikko Saigon on September 28, before moving onto the JW Marriott Hanoi between October 17-19.
The two venues will provide a spacious open-ground that is necessary in order to set up a large big tent, known as the “Festzelt”, just like in Germany.
The tent will be able to accommodate large groups with a capacity of 1,300 to 1,400 people at a single time.
Oktoberfest is a popular social and cultural event that has its origins in Germany. The festival was first brought to Vietnam by the German business community in 1992 before developing into one of the most popular annual celebrations in the country.
During this year’s Okotberfest, the organizing board are set to introduce the exclusive Paulaner Oktoberfest Beer which is brewed in Germany and is renowned for being served at Oktoberfest in Munich.
Aside from sampling some of Germany’s delicious beer, visitors will also have the chance to enjoy an expansive buffet of savoury German cuisine at the event.
Upon addressing the press conference, Thomas Debelic, chairman of the GBA, proudly announced that the 27th GBA Oktoberfest in Vietnam will continue the traditions started by the German business community many years ago.
He added that the organizing board will continuously work to improve the event in order to create an authentic atmosphere for guests in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to enjoy.
Over the past four years, the GBA Oktoberfest in Ho Chi Minh City has grown in scale, with an original German beer tent, German beer, German music, and German food, he noted.
