Two weekly chartered flights will carry tourists from Indonesia to the central coastal city of Danang from June until the end of the year.
These chartered flights will be operated by HCMC-based Viking Travel Company in partnership with tour operators in Indonesia. Each flight is expected to transport 150-200 passengers to Danang City.
The travelers on these flights will have the chance to go sightseeing at various destinations in Danang City such as Ba Na Hills and the ancient town of Hoi An, take a coracle ride and participate in cooking courses.
Tran Xuan Hung, chairman of the board at Viking, said that his firm and its partners had earlier planned to operate chartered flights linking Indonesia and Vietnam, but the plan had stalled.
However, when preparing a tour for some 3,500 meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) tourist arrivals in Danang City at the end of March and the beginning of April, the firm and its partners decided to exploit the product.
“The first guests in the group of 3,500 MICE tourists gave positive feedback after their trip, so we decided to launch the chartered flights to serve travelers from Indonesia’s Jakarta City seeking to visit Danang City,” he stated.
As in the past few years, Indonesian holidaymakers have only traveled to HCMC and visited some adjacent tourist sites in the Mekong Delta region or Hanoi City, the upcoming launch of chartered flights carrying passengers to Danang City will help the travel firm diversify its tourism products at competitive prices to draw Indonesian visitors.
